Angie Dodson received her BA in Art History from the University of Florida in 1990. Angie’s professional path began at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts where she served as Assistant Curator of Education for Adult Programs from 1991-94. Angie moved from Montgomery to Washington, DC where she received her Masters in Museum Education from the George Washington University in 1995.  After graduate school, Angie returned to her hometown of Charlotte, NC to serve as Curator of Education at the Museum of the New South. Missing life in Washington, she returned to serve as Curator of Education at the Octagon, the Museum of the American Architectural Foundation. And, for almost the next 20 years she was on staff at Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens. At Hillwood, she held a number of positions ranging from Assistant Head of Interpretation to Chief Operating Officer and Director of Learning & Engagement and Co-Chair of Exhibitions. Angie returned to Montgomery in October of 2018 to lead the Museum she’s loved for almost three decades now. While her work settings have changed—art museum, history center, historic house, estate museum—the constants in Angie’s quarter century or so of work in museums has been visitor learning and drawing visitors into the heart of the institution.
