Topic: Reclaiming the Castle

In 2014, Sidney Lanier High School appeared to be on a decline and was suffering from constant administration turnover, low teacher and student morale, very little school pride, and a continuous decrease in enrollment. On the brink of closure, Dr. Williams was tasked with developing a vision and implementing strategies to improve the overall environment and educational process of the school. Under his leadership, the culture and climate at Lanier High School has drastically improved. There has been over a fifty percent decrease in student discipline infractions and unexcused absences. The failure rate has decreased significantly and the graduation rate has increased eleven percent since his arrival. The athletic and arts departments have also improved in the quality of programs offered to students.

Dr. Williams truly believes that there is still a lot of work to be done at Sidney Lanier High School and is proud of the work that the faculty and staff has been able to accomplish.
